Our Prep School’s annual Charity Week has raised more than £9,000 to support local, national and international organisations.

The five-day event, held in October and, is organised and led by the Prep School, but is an initiative embraced by the whole school. This year, the charities that will benefit from the kindness of the Solihull Community were chosen by Prep School pupils.

Local organisation Helen and Douglas House, which supports terminally ill children and their families was nominated by Erin  and selected by J3 and J4 children; Gabriella in I2 presented about Winston’s Wish, the UK's childhood bereavement charity and was voted as the by her peers in Alice House; and Children in J1 and J2 raised money for international organisation, WaterAid, nominated by Cameron and selected by J1 and J2 pupils.

Fun activities throughout the week-long fundraising extravaganza on the Saint Martin’s campus included a pupil-led tuck shop, photo booth, book sale, talent show, movie afternoon, a non-uniform day and a staff dodgeball match.

Mr Michael Jones, Senior Deputy Head at Solihull Prep School said: “Our Charity Week is always a great community occasion and the support from our pupils, parents and staff is outstanding. This year the children had the opportunity to present their charity suggestions to their classmates and a series of democratic votes were then cast to select which of the many very worthy causes put forward were selected. Well done to Erin, Gabriella and Cameron and thank you to all involved for their hard work and tremendous generosity.”

Each charity received a cheque for £3,026.41 last week, with one rep visiting the school and another joining assembly via video link.
